Cooking from Your Garden
This first class in a series of classes with grower, David McConnell introduces the concept and technique of cooking from your garden, in your garden using the food you’re growing. We will focus on techniques that are conducive to a rustic outdoor environment using one or two cooking vessels over a camping stove, or even a small fire. Expect discussion around the importance of specialty produce and herbs (even edible weeds!) that are commonly misunderstood and underutilized in everyday cooking. We will cover proper harvesting techniques for garden vegetables and herbs to enable produce to thrive year after year (if perennials) and throughout the season (if annuals), and ways to use them that bring a new flare to your meals. Lastly, we’ll explore bringing your herbs inside into the kitchen for indoor growing.
This series of workshops works in reverse, starting with the end result of cooking in your garden, and working back to getting your garden ready for propagation. You can attend one, or all of the classes in this series.
